January 2020 Fundraiser - GOAL COMPLETED!
It’s that time of year to start fundraising for our annual Giving Extravaganza in Panama.
Last year we did our annual “Christmas” Giving Trip in January as a “Back to School Extravaganza”! It was a trip filled with love, an overflow of blessings and doing what we set out to do! Together, we equipped over 200 children with the necessary school supplies and uniforms to attend their 2019 school year.
After seeing how successful that fundraiser was in enabling us to positively impact so many children, we have decided to go to Panama in January with these two main goals…
Mission numero uno: Raise $7,000 (or more) to equip and send as many kids to school as possible.
On average, it costs $150 per child to attend National School, since children must have the appropriate uniform, dress shoes, gym shoes and all the supplies (i.e., backpack, notebooks, pencils, pens, glue, etc).
Mission numero dos: Raise $5,000 to provide additional support to our sweet, strong and beautiful teenage girls at Casa Hogar Trisker, the local children’s orphanage.
Over the years, the sewing project we launched for these girls has been one of our most powerful and impactful projects. To continue supporting the girls through this initiative, we would like to purchase another industrial sewing machine, pay for another 6-8 months of sewing classes (taught by a local Panamanian woman) and purchase bolts of high quality fabric (we will buy this stateside) as well as a few other miscellaneous sewing related items.
The girls are also in need of new clothes (bras, underwear, socks, dresses, pants and tops). We would like to purchase new clothes stateside to ensure they receive nice, quality clothes. We’ll set up a pop-up shop for the girls to go “shopping” at the orphanage. This was a HUGE HIT last year as it was their first experience selecting their own clothes…and they had so much fun doing this in a simulated store setting!
As always, thank you for your continued support of our efforts in Panama. We know these fundraisers change the course for these kids…we have witnessed it first hand for the last EIGHT YEARS! Wow, eight years!

"BACK TO SCHOOL" - 2018 Fundraiser
(FUNDRAISING GOAL REACHED!)
It is with great enthusiasm that I’m sending this note to let you know about our next Sowing Seeds of Love (SSOL) fundraiser. This has been a unique year but SSOL is still blooming in Panama. Our education and sewing classes are thriving and growing.
After much thought, prayer and connecting with our team in Panama, we have decided to do our annual “Christmas” Giving Trip in January AKA “Back to School Extravaganza”. We feel called to ensure even more kiddos are equipped and prepared for the 2019 school year which begins in FEBRUARY.
Pushing our Giving Trip to January will allow us take the kids on an adventure of shopping for all the necessities. We will be purchasing (in Panama) school uniforms, shoes and the necessary supplies for them to attend National Public School.
ALL THE DEETS:
On average, it costs $150-$165 per child to attend National School (children must have the appropriate uniform, dress shoes, gym shoes and all the supplies i.e., backpack, notebooks, pencils, pens, glue… etc).
Our goal is to raise $9,800 and send as many kids to school as possible. Any amount we raise over $9,800 will go directly into our school supply fundraiser. Our goal is to get as many kids equipped for the coming year!

We know an education dramatically changes the course for these kids, we have witnessed it first hand for the last seven years! We thank you for positively impacting these children’s lives and giving them the gift of education.

Christmas Extravaganza 2017
GOAL COMPLETED!
Our goal is to raise $15,000 to fund three separate events to celebrate Christmas with each of the communities SSOL serves. Please see below for a breakdown of this vision.
Casa Hogar Trisker (Boys and Girls Orphanage) – Purchasing an industrial swing sets for the kids!
These swing sets will go by the industrial playground we surprised the kids with in 2013! We have been working with a distributor in Panama and the cost for THREE Swing Sets (including baby swings), installation, taxes and fees will be about $9,000.

Christmas in the Comarca – $4,000
Purchase Christmas gifts and school supplies for 120 children!
We spend 1-2 days in the Comarca, the most rural (and poorest) part of Panama. We’ve been able to include this community in our Christmas giving for the past three years and it’s been a wonderful opportunity for us spend time with the local families, play soccer with kids, provide a healthy meal, read and enjoy one another’s company.
Christmas at Arturo Miro (all boy orphanage): $2,000
Celebrate Christmas with an afternoon of joy!
Cost includes surprising 33-38 boys with an afternoon of soccer and grilling out (still to be determined). We’d also like to purchase Christmas gifts for the boys and contribute to supplying necessary school supplies. Gift ideas include: Nike socks, Nike hats, deck of cards, sunflower seeds and board games.
Our goal is to raise $15,000 to make all of this a reality! We couldn’t do it without your support and your prayers.

PAST FUNDRAISER: GOAL MET!
School Uniform and School Shoes Fundraiser
Last week it was brought to my attention that a number of children’s uniforms and shoes are not up to “code” (i.e. they have holes and stains). The children have been told they need new uniforms and shoes to continue attending school.
I felt called to do a small fundraiser to be able to purchase new shoes and uniforms for the children in need, to finish up the school year, which ends in December.
Average cost of uniform: $45
Average cost for a good pair of shoes $25-$40
Our goal is to raise $1,200 by July 10th.

The Christmas Extravaganza Fundraiser 2016

Our goal is to raise $12,000 by November 23, 2016 to fund three separate events to celebrate Christmas with each of the communities SSOL serves, as well as provide thoughtful Christmas gifts and much needed school supplies to the children in these communities.
*Christmas in the Comarca and the children of SSOL:
Purchase Christmas gifts and school supplies for 120 kids (including jump ropes, soccer balls, harmonicas, socks, flip flops, backpacks and necessary school supplies)
Distribute 100+ baby bibs made by the 4Love women to give to women in the Cormarca.
Christmas at Casa Hogar Trisker (boys and girls orphanage):
Celebrate Christmas with an afternoon of joy (cost includes renting bounce houses, providing music and food for 60+ children and all the workers)
Purchase Christmas gifts to be shared by all --- MagnaTiles (Magnatiles are designed to hold a child's interest and attention, build critical developmental skills and promote imaginative play and creativity).

Christmas at Arturo Miro (all boy orphanage):
Celebrate Christmas with an afternoon field day and surprising the boys (35) with brand new Nike shoes. All of their shoes are in terrible condition. They’re always commenting on how cool my Nike sneakers are and how much they would LOVE to have their own. I’ve been praying for this to become a reality since March, and this December, my dream is to see them in cool kicks! **If you have any connections to Nike or ideas for how to bring this about, please let me know.**
